Als Bibel (altgr. βιβλία biblia „Bücher“; daher auch Buch der Bücher) bezeichnet man eine Schriftensammlung, die im Judentum und Christentum als Heilige Schrift mit normativem Anspruch für die ganze Religionsausübung gilt.
Die Bibel des Judentums ist der dreiteilige Tanach, der aus der Tora (Weisung), den Nevi’im (Propheten) und Ketuvim (Schriften) besteht. Diese Schriften entstanden seit etwa 1200 v. Chr.
